Ivel U12  14  vs  North Dorset U12  14    Sunday 23rd November 2008

In cold windy conditions, despite a good all round performance, the U12s were down by two converted tries at half time.   The second half started with Ivel establishing a good position from kick off.  A couple of good phases from the forwards and a strong individual run resulted in a try for Jake Oliver which was converted by Ben Kelly.  The game then ebbed and flowed with both sides playing entertaining Rugby and defending well.  Ivel then camped in the North Dorset last 15 and after a period of sustained pressure, Chester House emerged from the back of a ruck and drove over the line for Ivel's second.  Steady under pressure, Ben Kelly converted to level the score.  There then followed a tense 10 minutes as North Dorset piled on the pressure.  Ivel were stalwarts in defence with good tackling and agressive counter rucking frustrating North Dorset efforts.  Ivel began to show signs of tiring as the final whistle came and in the end draw was a fair reflection of both sides endeavours.  Henry Corner was made man of the match in recognition of his scrummaging and excellent counter rucking at the breakdown; this must have been especially pleasing to him following his painful injury in a match against Frome the week before.

Ivel U12  0  vs  Sherborne U12  21      Sunday 7th December 2008

After a late start to allow the pitch to thaw out Sherbone ran out 21 - 0 winners a score that didn't do Ivel efforts justice.  Ivel's tackling was much improved over previous matches but let themselves down by giving away too many penalties at the ruck and maul.  Despite being much the smaller of the two packs, Ivel held their own for all but the last quarter of the match. Ben Kelly was Ivel's man of the match in recognition of the fact that he didn't miss a tackle all game and undoubtably stopped Sherborne going away with an even bigger victory.

Tor U12  vs  Ivel U12     Sunday 18th January 2009

Ivel won 33 to 24 in a quagmire of a pitch following heavy rain the night before.  An excellent performance and a real bounce back following the home defeat against Tor before Christmas.    The match was nip an tuck with Tor levelling the score just before half time.  Ivel dug-in and scored two tries to one in the second half to take a very close game.  Josh Howard-Higgins was awarded man of the match following a performance that inspired all around him but all in all an good team effort

Ivel U12  vs  Wells U12     Sunday 15th February 2009

The U12 played 2 games against Wells.  They won the first 21 to 7 and the second 14 to 0.  This was perhaps the best overall performance of the season with the forwards securing good 1st and 2nd phase ball and the backs spreading the ball wide in attack.  Defence was equally robust with excellent tackling and counter rucking in both games.

Despite losing both games Wells were worthy opponents who played spirited rugby throughout.

Such was the overall performance that no one player was singled out as man of the match - a real team performance - well done to all.
