Bridport U13  32  vs  Ivel U13  17   -  Away  - Sunday 18th September 2009

The game was barely underway when Jack Willis took a flyer and ran the full length of the pitch in the first two minutes to score a brilliant first try for Ivel.  Bridport came back scoring two try’s and went into half time in the lead.

Ivel came into the second half a little lack lustre giving Bridport too many opportunities to steal the ball - they took complete advantage of this lull and scored a third try which was converted.  Ivel began to work together as a team, with their second try being made by Jake Oliver who was tackled 5 yards from the line but managed to pass it skilfully to Daniel Finn who used his strength to power it over the line.

Bridport responded by passing the ball to their key player who had great speed down the wing and who scored their fourth try.  Ivel picked up their game and began to look like the better side, gaining a third try by Jack Willis (his second) with a conversion by Luke Harker.  However, Ivel conceded a penalty kick to Bridport directly in front of the posts with 10 minutes to go.

Ivel never gave up and were unlucky to have another converted try against them with time running out.  The match finished; Bridport 32 – Ivel 17.

Although Henry Corner had to leave the match early, he was awarded man of the match for his tenacity, excellent tackles and fantastic determination.

Frome U13  17  vs  Ivel U13  22  -  Sunday 25th October 2009

A fantastic game of Rugby.  Both Frome and Ivel played a very physical game with skill and determination.  Ivel took the lead early on with a try from Cameron Main and a second from Jake Oliver - Jake also took on the role of Fly Half in the absence of Luke Harker and did an excellent job converting the second try with ease.  Frome picked up a converted Try just before half time.  Both teams came back on the pitch with equal amounts of determination and Oscar Wignall did well to score Ivel’s third try.  Frome never gave up and pulled back another two Try’s making it level pegging.  Daniel Finn got the fourth Try from a brilliant ‘cut one’ move then used his strength to get the ball over the line.  Frome battled hard for the last 5 mins making it a nail biting finish to a first-rate game of Rugby with a result of Frome 17, Ivel 22.

Man of the match was awarded to Oscar Wignall for his brilliant effort throughout the whole game and of course for his superb Try.

Ivel U13  27  vs  Tor  39  -  Sunday 8th November 2009

Tor had a strong team, which was aided by 3 under 14 players!

Ivel kicked off and made a good start. Tor picked up their game and regained the advantage to push on for their 1st Try.  Ivel took advantage of another good kick off where the ball came into play 20 metres from Tor’s try line, however, Tor intercepted the ball using one of their older players who ran the full length of the pitch scoring their 2nd Try.  Ivel played well, didn’t let their heads go down and made good headway but suffered from a mistake with another full pitch run by their key older player for Tor’s 3rd Try.  Ivel switched on, with some excellent tackles and sensible play with Connor Bell getting Ivel’s 1st Try. Cameron Main had good determination to get Ivel’s 2nd Try.  Tor battled hard but Ivel battled harder and James Haiselden got Ivel’s 3rd Try making it level pegging into half time.

Tor got their 4th try by their key older player through a lack of Ivel concentration and then scored their 5th in close succession.  This was followed by a 4th Try from Ivel’s Will Lockie after some excellent tackles by the team, with thoughtful play, working together and excellent reading of the game.  Following a Tor put in, Ivel gathered the ball for an excellent 5th Try by Henry Corner with an easy conversion by Luke Harker.  With only 5 mins remaining Tor got two more Try’s and a conversion.  Making the final score Ivel 27 – Tor 39.

The Under 13’s should not be disappointed with the result, it didn’t depict their efforts put into the game against older players.  Going into half time Ivel were drawing and when Tor took their key older player off they lost their advantage, as soon as that player came back on Tor scored Try’s again!

Player of the day was given to the whole team as everyone played brilliantly and everyone should be completely proud of themselves for a fantastic game of Rugby.  It has been agreed with Tor when we play them next, that Ivel will loan them some Under 13’s players instead of them using older players.
