North Dorset dominated the game right from the start.  Ivel seemed to be completely over powered by a more disciplined, well trained and experienced side.  However, Ivel battled on regardless, the whole team kept working hard but were over shadowed by a more dominant side.  North Dorset scored 4 Trys and 1 conversion with Ivel scoring their only try and conversion of the game in the first half.  In the second half North Dorset scored 4 Trys and 2 conversions to win the game convincingly on a bitterly cold Sunday morning.

Try was scored by Jack Willis (1) with a conversion by Luke Harker

Man of the match was Jake Oliver for keeping everyone’s head up when they were losing.

Ivel U13  34  vs  Wells U13  5  -  Sunday 28th February 2010

Ivel started as the strongest team with Cam Main gaining the first try within the first 5 minutes with an easy conversion for Luke Harker.  This was closely followed by Dan Finn who ran three quarters of the pitch in a determined run for the second try (Dan had obviously had his shredded wheat this morning!) with another good conversion for Luke Harker.  Wells managed to score an unconverted try from a lapse in concentration and missed tackles by Ivel.  Following this set back, Ivel made some excellent ground in the ruck, pushing Wells back and maintaining their advantages to produce some excellent rugby.  Two more try’s came in the first half from Duncan Sowerby with Rhys Hughes scoring his first try for the team since joining in December.

The second half saw Wells pick up their game, however, Ivel managed to fend them off several times from their try line preventing them from scoring with excellent defence.  From a scramble of both teams later in the second half, Will Lockie managed to grab the ball from a mêlée of bodies, jump over the line to score Ivel’s fifth try, which was not converted.  The sixth try came again from Cam Main, which again was not converted.

Although the weather was blowing a gale, with rain in the wind and extremely cold conditions the boys played fantastically well and kept the pressure on Wells to win the match, Ivel 34 – Wells 5.

Man of the match: due to the dreadful conditions the team dispersed immediately following the game and no decision was made.

Taunton U13  27  vs  Ivel U13  5  -  Sunday 7th March 2010

A good tackle by Jack Willis prevented Taunton scoring their first try early on.  Ivel put in some excellent tackles to push Taunton up the pitch, Harry Young managed a break away and fell over the line to get Ivel’s first unconverted try.  Ivel continued to defend well but Taunton proved too dominant and passed the ball out to the wing for their player to score their first try.  Ivel then began to lack concentration to allow Taunton to take the advantage and get their second try, going into half time level.

Both teams seemed to be very well matched, Ivel worked hard with some excellent tackling but just couldn’t make any headway. Taunton began to have most of the possession.  Ivel played passionately with some inspirational moments but unfortunately couldn’t prevent Taunton scoring their third try and too many losses of possession meant Taunton scored their fourth try.

Final score was 27-5.

Man of the match was Harry Young for scoring his first try for the team which was an early Birthday present for Monday.

Ivel U13  vs  Swanage & Wareham U13  -  Sunday 14th March 2010

Ivel played well from the whistle and Jack Willis scored the first try in the first 5 minutes with some excellent passing and forward momentum.  Good tackling by both teams with some sensible playing and good discipline.  The first half was very evenly matched and the score held until the half time whistle.

Ivel continued hard and managed to pass the ball out to Jack Willis out on the wing who ran three quarters of the way down the pitch to score Ivel’s second try.  Ivel kept up the pressure and pushed Swanage backward which gave Jake Oliver an opportunity to pick the ball up and run in over the line for Ivel’s third try. Swanage managed to snatch a loose ball and with some excellent passing down the line, caught Ivel out and managed to get their second try which was converted.  Both teams tackled well and Swanage defended well but couldn’t hold Ivel away from their try line, which gave Daniel Luck a perfect opportunity to get Ivel’s fourth try.

Final score was 20-12

Man of the match was Jack Willis for his determination and excellent performance out on the wing.
