Ivel wins inaugural Veterans Trophy.

In heat that was not seen for most of the Summer, Ivel Barbarians RFC hosted their first annual festival of beer
and veterans rugby. Nine teams entered the competition, which came of the back of an undefeated season for the Ivel vets, and after a bit or re-shuffling following a late cancellation, the home team kept their 100% record.

After a nervy start against the Essex based Burnam-on-Crouch, Ivel's past masters got going and produced some great rugby at times with their backs running some great lines to score some class tries.

Ivel President and event organiser said "It was a great day which was played in the right spirit. I have to thank
all teams who turned out in what was difficult weather for us older players, particularly Burnam-on-Crouch who
travelled such a along distance to be with us. It is fantastic to have made new friends and we will hopefully be
paying them a visit in the future."

Looking forward to next years event Colin says "the resurgence of veterans rugby in the club has been a real boost which has been helped by gaining a sponsor in the form of Elite Scaffolding. Next years event will be bigger and better and we want to cement our excellent relationship with Yeovil Ales and make the beer festival more of a prominent feature next year."
