Ivel travelled to North Petherton to play in a three match with the host and Minehead hoping to continue their good vain of form.
Ivel’s first match was against Minehead. Both sides were evenly matched throughout the game with neither side giving the other a clear scoring opportunity. The Minehead side was a well organised side that were well drilled and gave the Ivel side lots to think about. Both sides were keen to throw the ball about and showed some great individual skills along with some great team effort. The scores were even at half time with neither side able to break down the others defence.
The second half started at a furious pace with both sides going trying to break the dead lock. The only score of the game came after some great work by the Ivel backs which allowed the ball to be passed to Elliot Berryman. He was ten metres out and drove for the line and with the help of Myles and Brendon in close support and went over for a try. This spurred the Minehead side into action and they pressed and pressed but some heroic tackles from Dan Long, Archie Mitchel, Harry Long and Robert Samways stopped them short of the line. The game ended with an Ivle win but both sides played some brilliant rugby and were credit to their clubs.

Ivel’s second game was against North Petherton who had to have some players from Ivel to make a game. The Ivel players who played for North Petherton stepped up to the mark and put their heart and sole into the game which showed what great rugby players they were. Because of the reduced numbers on the pitch it allowed the “pacey” backs the room to show their stuff and Ivel went ahead from the start with a great try by the “try machine” Harry McHugh (2). This continued throughout the game with further tries from Lewis Fry (2), Aaron Briatore and Archie Mitchell. However, North Petherton did not give in and came with a well worked try. This was a whole team performance with all the players contributing to a great performance which was a fitting way to end a very good day.
