This was another hard match for Ivel on a pleasant Friday evening under the floodlights and before their largest crowd.
Weymouth came out fighting but met a well-disciplined Ivel defence. The game flowed back and forth with Ivel coming close but Weymouth held firm.
The only score of the first half was a penalty kicked by James Robins.
The second half started with much of the same, lots of play between the 20 meter lines.
Ivel’s forwards then started to control the scrums and got their mauls working. This led to Connor McAlpine breaking free for a good solo try, which was not converted.
After this Ivel
seemed to nod off and this allowed Weymouth to break away and score a try in the corner. Weymouth were unable to kick the conversion.
Ivel quickly got their game going again and after a period of prolonged pressure Nick Murray scored a try in the corner. James Robins was unable to kick the conversion.
Weymouth again piled on the pressure but Ivel’s fitness and stamina showed through and this allowed Ashley Harvey to break through the Weymouth line and score his first try for Ivel. The remainder of the match was then played in the middle of the pitch with neither team giving ground.
Man of the Match was again awarded to the whole team for the outstanding effort they put in.
