North Dorset U15’s 19 v 17 Ivel U15’s.

This was a very hard encounter for both teams, especially Ivel who had to wait an extra hour due to a misunderstanding about kick off times.

On a very windswept pitch the first quarter was played between the 22’s. The first score went to Ivel. A penalty try being awarded after a great breakaway by Connor McAlpine was ended inches from the try line with him being hauled back by his shirt collar. James Robbins followed up with the conversion.

North Dorset came back strongly and after a few minutes crossed the line for a try, which was then converted. The half ended all square after another period of hard play in the middle of the pitch.

It was more of the same at the start of the second half. Unfortunately after a mistake by Ivel, North Dorset scored a try, which was duly converted. This seemed to spur on Ivel and after a long period of play in the North Dorset half Nick Murray crossed the line. James was unlucky not to score the conversion.

Another period of Ivel pressure saw Nick Murray pushed over the line for his second try. Connor McAlpine unfortunately was unable to score the conversion. This was followed by a sustained effort by North Dorset who after another mistake by Ivel scored their third try which they failed to convert.

Ivel piled on the pressure but due to a few handling errors and funny decisions were unable to score again. A hard match with all the team playing well. Man of the Match going to Nick Murray.

A bit of a sour note was the injury to Ashley Harvey.
