This Sunday there were a few absences due to the half term but we were fortunate to have two new boys who have turned 6 and are eligible to now play under 7s, so many thanks to Toby and Jake who ensured that we had a full team plus one reserve. The two new boys did more than make up numbers as we all witnessed however.

From the start Cary showed they had improved considerably as we have since the first game of the season, but some excellent tagging, running into double figures, kept them out. Eventually Ivel's defensive pressure told and the ball was turned over. From the attack Freddy found some space down the touchline and sprinted home for the first score. Cary came straight back and some strong running led to the equaliser.

From the kick off Murray burst forward and pirouetted past the two defenders for an excellent try. Cary came straight back and even though the tagging was still fearsome, the best being a horizontal full length effort by new boy Jake , Cary managed to cross over for their second. The game continued at a frantic pace toing and froing and Ivel's great tackling was leading to Cary mistakes, unfortunately Ivel were adjudged to be making mistakes too and at least five tries were disallowed for not being grounded with two hands.

After another turn over from Cary deep in the Ivel half the ball found it's way to Jake and after a  moments hesitation he found a gap and was over for his first try on his debut, with a whole field of 13 players giving chase! The end of the half saw Ivel just ahead and a quick re shuffle brought Toby on for his debut, and with his first touch he too found a gap and was over for his debut try in the corner. Many thanks to the reception coaches for handing the under sevens such capable and willing players!

Liam produced some excellent runs to secure four tries, Ethan too had some lovely elusive runs and picked up a try. Rory was, as always exceptional in his support play, Tom had a couple of great runs which broke through the defence only to be tagged at the last minute - but gave good attacking positions for the team.

At the final whistle Ivel were victorious 8 tries versus Cary's 7 - thanks to Castle Cary for a great, well spirited, exciting game.

The boys, and girls all agreed to a second match which was almost a re-run of the first and finished 5-5 Liam was excellent and picked up 3 tries with Ethan and Rory adding to the Tally.

An absolutely fantastic day of rugby which was so enjoyable i didn't want to see the end of the game, even in the rain!
Man of the match was young Jake who turned one of his two runs into a try but was magnificent in his defence throughout.
