A simply beautiful December Sunday and perfect conditions for exciting rugby and Ivel hosted Dorchester and Bridport for some of the best under 7 rugby of the season so far.

First game was against a strong Bridport side and this proved to be an even encounter with flowing end to end rugby. There was no sign of the two week lay off due to the bad weather with very few mistakes by either side and Ivel seemed to raise their game for the higher standard of opposition. Simeon was outstanding with excellent tagging, even against much larger opposition, some of the opposing players seemed to be double of Simeon! There was excellent strong and swift running from Freddy who played the best game of rugby he has ever produced. Rory and Ethan were dazzling going forward with some elusive forward runs. All through the side there was excellent support - Murray having a fine run which saw him tagged inches from the line only to turn to find three Ivel players begging for the ball. Tom and Owen were strong in pressurising Bridport and at times there was some strong tussling for loose ball. in the end Ivel simply ran out of time with Bridport scoring from their last  play to make it 8-7.    Tries were shared by Rory (3) Freddy (2) and Ethan (2) but this was a true team effort with everyone contributing.

Second game of the day saw Ivel take on Dorchester and again the spectators were treated to another fine match, again there were very few mistakes and the boys showed real grit, determination and desire to win. Unfortunately this was not to be as the game ended in a 6-6 draw.  Try scorers were Rory (4) and Freddy (2).

Recapping on the day I find it hard to think of negatives, but playing two superb games but not getting a victory means we must have areas to wok on. Organisation is key, ultimately we need to work on our tagging - tagger of the day was Simeon and we need to follow his example. We need to break the we score, they score cycle by breaking up the opposition play.

Excellent team performance with so few errors  but because of the fact that he raised his game and put in a determined performance with 6 tries on the day, man of the day goes to Freddy.

Next week is the Christmas party £1 per child and the club have asked for everyone to bring some food, this is an opportunity for all the players to have some fun, all are welcome.
