Well done to all those players who made the effort to get to Castle Cary on a slightly chilly & damp morning ready to play some exciting rugby. With a full team we prepared ourselves for a tenacious game. With Cary having a small army of 18 players to pick from we knew there was going to be some exciting running games, three to be exact.

All three games where played with great skill and determination from both sides. With great inter-passing & support play by Cary, our defensive line holding strong only for the ball to be worked wide around the fringes leading to a number of tries being scored as we slowly got sucked in. However we stopped a number of there attacks by managing to get all 7 tackles, well done.

Our attacking running was spearheaded by Matt, Neo & Charlie, making some fantastic individual breaks. Some great team tries where scored due to the support play by all players throughout the games, this was amazing to watch. The quickness of the running, the change of direction, players in position to get the ball once the other was tagged was great to see. Only on a few occasions did we start to go back to our old ways of bunching and running out into touch.
Overall a very well played and evenly matched games.

Final Scores:    Game 1 – Ivel 7 – Cary 7 (D)
                        Game 2 – Ivel 4 – Cary 5 (L)
                        Game 3 – Ivel 5 – Cary 7 (L)

Areas to work on:

  • Must keep our defensive line straight
  • Not bunching around the player
  • Looking for support players near the touch line.
