Following the success of last week, the key for this weeks rather formidable opponent's was to keep the motivation high and tame Bath.

The thought of such a task was made a stark reality when a depleted Ivel team of 8 stood shoulder to shoulder with a Bath side capable of fielding two teams.

The game started with Bath making the most of their rather organised rucks and quick ball handling, giving their wingers space to run,the outcome was that Bath had a lead of 4-1 with 20 minutes gone.  With 30 minutes remaining we wondered what the final score would be.  But just as the touchline were getting worries, Ivel burst into action controlling the scrums, the powerful trio of JK, Big Ryan and Broomy soon won every scrum and made their mark at the lineouts, this gave renewed energy and very quickly we seen tries from Cameron, Harry and Big Ryan.

After 40 minutes and additional tries from Cameron and Daniel Ivel were right back in the firing, the score stood at 6-5 to Bath but with all to play for.

The final 10 minutes came hard and fast with both teams becoming more assertive, Bath and Ivel spent time on each others try lines as the bitterly fought match came to an end.

The final score of 6-5 to Bath is impressive for Ivel, even more impressive when you learn that Ivel only had 8 (+1 borrowed from Bath)players and Bath had 15 giving them lots of opportunity for squad rotation.

Next week sees a well deserved rest for Half Term before returning for training

Well an extremely good turn out from the team today gave us a strong side for this 3 way battle.  First up were Dorchester and we had the advantage playing downhill, so we need to make it count.  Which we do and within minutes Cameron gets his first try against Dorchester.  1-0 Ivel

Dorchester restart but quickly get closed down and after some rucking Ivel come out on top, Josh with a good off load releases James who stretches his legs and waves goodbye to Dorchester and hello 'TRY LINE' Ivel 2-0.

Dorchester get us underway again and are looking strong, after  or so minutes Broomy gets bored and with a big strong push in the ruck, Dorchester find themselves on their backs with the ball free, Ivel quickly make get it back into play and with some very quick and neat passing it's Harrie's turn and Ivel are 3-0 up.

Just before half time there is a penalty against Ivel right on the try line, Dorchester fail to make it stick and instead the ball is in Cameron's hands and with a few 'Run Forrest, Run' shouts from the try line he takes it the full length of the pitch and gets another.

Half Time 4-0

Now for the tough part, uphill, but with a 4-0 lead, is it enough?

Ivel are holding their own and keeping Dorchester at bay, then some fancy footwork, Dorchester strike back with 1, 4-1 Ivel.

James determined to makes the centre his makes some very good tackles keeping the ball on the half way line, Archie springs into life and makes a run up the right wing but gets tackled.  A ruck follows and Big Ryan goes in strong forcing Dorchester out for touch.

The next 5 minutes sees the ball move back and forth as Ivel keep strong, but the inevitable happens and after lots of red faces and heroic tackles, Dorchester get a 2nd.

The whistle blows and Ivel win 4-2.  Well done lads

2nd Game against Bournemouth

Ivel playing uphill in the first half so we must stay strong or Bournemouth will run away with it.

Bournemouth are trying to just the downhill advantage but for the first 4 minutes Ivel stay strong, frustration sets in with Bournemouth and the game begins to make it's mark on the Ivel team, Ryan comes with stud marks all over his forehead after a ruck, JK is next off also studded in the mouth and bleeding, Harrie's next with an arm injury and cuts to his chin.  All this happens on the Ivel try line and within a minute Bournemouth literally draw first blood 1-0
Extremely tough half with Ivel defending well, but just before the whistle (which should have already been blown) Dorchester get another 2-0.  Tough half but an excellent result playing uphill.

2nd half

Bournemouth are straight out of the blocks with a try 3-0, come on Ivel make the advantage count, is roared from the try line.  Ivel restart but are caught napping and it's 4-0 within 2 minutes of the 2nd half.

Ivel are now fighting back, Daniel grabs the ball from the floor and off-loads to release Cameron, who gets 1 back a Ivel heads lift.4-1, Come on Ivel you can do this.

The three players that came off in the first half are back on and looking for payback, the game turns into a forwards game with, scrum after scrum, maul after maul and rucking galore.  Unfortunately for the backs they are left watching especially Luke who is waiting in open space for the ball, come on boys get the ball out to the wing.

But this is not to be, frustration sets in as Ivel just can't get the ball out from the middle of the pitch and temper flairs with both Broomy and JK enjoying some 'after's' with the opposing pack.

Suddenly the ball breaks, but it is Bournemouth that make it work for them and it's Dorchester another 5-1, looks like the uphill struggle was really in the 2nd half when it should have been easier.  Bournemouth get another break and it's 6-1, Ivel continue to fight and before long the powerful pack win a scrum Harrie releases the ball along through James and Samuel to Cameron who gets another, The final whistle goes and Bournemouth win 6-2.

The score line not reflecting the effort and hard fought battle from Ivel, but more the fact that Bournemouth took their chances better.

A big well done to the team and a special well done to the Coaches who are building a fine team full of fight and honour.

First of all we would like to welcome Luke Hancock and Billy Pritchard to the team, also Bridport turned up with a depleted team, so well done to all of the Ivel team that showed true sportsmanship by joining the opposition to make up the numbers.

Also, for my sanity and for those that read these reports, here is a guide to some names/nicknames
Jack Burford=Jack
Jack Keegan=JK
Luke Macpherson=Luke
Luke Hancock=Lukie
Ryan Bishop=Ryan
Ryan Strike=Big Ryan

Format for today is 2 games of 2x10 minute halves

1st Game, 1st Half
Bridport get us underway and force towards the Ivel try line, but big Ryan stops them in their tracks and gives us the first ruck of the afternoon, after a nice power play by Ivel it goes out for a Bridport line out.  Ivel have the bit between their teeth today and a quick interception from JK and a pass to James sees Ivel draw first blood Ivel 1-0

Bridport are quick to start and are showing some great passing before Billy puts in a cracking tackle, Bridport then get a scrum, but the mighty forwards of Ivel drive over and Harrie is off, he gets tackled well into the Bridport half, Ivel ruck over and big Ryan grabs the ball releases to Broomy who pirouettes over the line ala David Flatman and scores a try.
Ivel 2-0

Bridport are now in the Ivel half, Ivel once again get possession through a powerful scrum and Harrie quickly passes the ball out to Lukey who runs like a steam train and Ivel are in the Bridport half, Bridport make an excellent tackle and regain the ball, Ryan defends well and rips the ball out of the arms of the opposition but just before he can say 'Like taking Candy from a Baby' a big tackle comes in sweeping him from his feet.  Bridport are recovering before Luke tackles and forces an Ivel line out.  the balls back in play and Ivel get a scrum.  Another powerful scrum sees Big Ryan appear with the ball, he can see the try line and not wanting to be out done by his fellow prop he drags himself, the ball and 3 Bridport players over the line for a try.  Now that's power for you.  Ivel 3-0.

Bridport get us underway but out of nowhere Jack scoops up the ball jinking his way through the field for a try.  Ivel 4-0 and the whistle blows for half time.

2nd half
Ivel start the 2nd half the same way they finished the first with Billy making a lighting run down the wing, only to be pushed over the line.  Bridport lineout and they set off and look like they are about to threaten the Ivel try line, Cameron makes a tackle and the ball spills free, Samuel grabs the ball and runs diagonally, passing just before a tackle to Harrie, who with quick hands lays it off to James, who splits the Bridport defense in two and gets a try
Ivel 5-0.

I then lose concentration as Gill distracts me sounding like an M&S advert as she talks about her 'smooth' Hot Chocolate (see told you I would put it in the report), Bridport continue to apply the pressure, but Harrie regains possession and breaks but is pushed into touch. Bridport waste their lineout, and now it's Ivel's turn.  From the lineout there is lots of serious tackling, Bridport look for the long pass wide but Jack intercepts and sends it wide for Luke, who makes a sprint and then passes to Billy to score a try on his debut.   Ivel 6-0

Bridport get us back underway but James reacts lightning quick and makes a strong run brushing Bridport to one side and gets a try.  Ivel 7-0

The whistle blows
End game 1, Ivel 7-0

After a game that was a bit one-sided our Coaches opted to give Lukey, Cameron and James to Bridport to make it a 'closer' game.  Cheers coach!!!

2nd game
Well we're off and Ivel immediately get a line out.  Samuel gets the ball to Jack, and he sythes through the field like a combine harvester.  Ivel 1-0.

Bridport get us underway and the influence of James gets Bridport a try.  Ivel 1-1

Bridport are certainly more powerful in this game and are looking likely to score another try when out of nowhere Luke makes a run, and with Samuel in support gets Ivel back where they belong, in the Bridport half.  Scrum down and Ivel have another successful drive forward, the ball is loose and with a stronger Bridport team there is a lot more tackling and rucks, the game is stuck in the  middle of the field until Big Ryan powers out of the ruck, ball in hand and no intention of letting go. After a good run, Big Ryan is pushed over the try line and it's an Ivel lineout.  The ball comes back into play and out of what can only be decribed as a maul the size of a killer whale Ivel break and get a try.
Ivel 2-1 but this is far from comfortable.

half time 2-1

Bridport get the 2nd half underway and walk through the Ivel defense as if they were on a shopping trip, not a tackle in sight as Bridport score and it's 2-2.

Ivel not happy at seeing a level score look more aggresive and go in tackling hard, JK gets up slowly holding his shoulder, Luke has made a seering run and scored a defining try.  Ivel 3-2

Were underway again, with some big tackles coming in Harrie, Jack and Ryan.  As Ivel fight for supremecy, Lukey appears out of the ruck and heads towards the Bridport try line, Bridport with renewed energy and vigor manage to get back and push Lukey out for a lineout.  Ivel lineout, but this game is so much tougher than the first, Bridport get the ball and work their way to the Ivel try line, the Ivel defence is holding up well, but under severe pressure.  Just as Bridport look as they are about to score, Big Ryan swings them off the ball and puts the ball into the safe hands of Jack, who takes it from the Ivel try line to the Bridport try line.  Ivel 4-2.

A small look of comfort comes back into the faces of Ivel, but no sooner than it appears, it is wiped off and Bridport are back in the game.  Ivel still lead by a wafer thin margin, 4-3.

Ivel get it back underway, with Luke showing off some of his triathlon skills as he heads to the line, but Bridport force him out.  Ivel lineout then gets us underway and from the halfway line JK picks the ball up and runs diagonally and gets over the line scoring a rare try.  Ivel 5-3

Bridport are not giving up though and start pushing towards the Ivel try line, Harrie sees the danger and launches a massive tackle that stops a certain try, but the ball spills lose for Bridport to collect and score.  Ivel 5-4

This is turning into a game that could be on Sky, it is try for try as we enter the last 3 minutes, JK stops the Bridport pressure and rips the ball out of the maul, releasing Luke who races towards the Bridport half before releasing Jack who launches into a sprint and scores a try securing the win.

The whistle blows and Ivel secure a well fought for win.

Final score is 6-4, but not without pain as both Big Ryan and JK leave the pitch with a head and shoulder injury.  Rest those injuries boys, we have Wellington next week and it will be tough.

Sunday saw Ivel U10's take on North Petherton, the format for the day was 2 games of 2x 10 minute halves.

This home game sees a very big Ivel squad, so please forgive me if I do not mention your name; it was a very fast paced game with lots of substitutions.

North Petherton win the toss and get us underway, but within a minute James makes an amazing interception and cuts straight through the defence and over the try line.  Ivel 1-0

Petherton get us underway again, after some passing Petherton get a maul going, JK rips the ball out and makes a break but is tackled and fails to release the ball, Scrum to Petherton.

A big scrum by Ivel sees Jack B stretch his legs towards the try line, Petherton's defence steps in again and Jack is pushed out.  Petherton take the line out and make their way into Ivel's half, some good tackling, the ball is grabbed by Daniel who makes a great run but is brought down just before the try line, Broomy picks the ball up from the ruck and powers over the line for a try, who says Prop Forwards can't score.   Ivel 2-0

Petherton get us underway again, and after making some progress, Harrie makes a tackle that sees the ball loose, Ivel pick up and pass to Jack B who makes like an express train, unstoppable he goes over the line for a try.   Ivel 3-0.

With 2 minutes left, Ivel slow it down, keep possession and finish the first half 3-0 up against North Petherton.

2nd Half.
Ivel start well again, quickly using the backs to get the ball out to the wing, Luke takes the ball down the wing, but Petherton's defence make a crushing tackle and win the ball back.
Ivel regain possession and the match turns into lots of rucking and mauling, this takes the toll on Petherton and two of their players go off injured.  Ivel loan JK and Jack B until the Petherton players come back on.

Ivel continue to have the majority of the possession and become frustrated as Petherton win a penalty.  Petherton's scrum get's overpowered by Ivel and quick thinking from Harrie releases James on a run, using the width of the pitch James passes to Luke who takes it up the wing before passing inside to Cameron who cuts through Petherton's defence like a hot knife through butter.   Ivel 4-0

A tiring Petherton gets us underway but their attack is broken down and Ivel get a scrum, once again Ivel win out and the ball gets passed to the wing, Ewan gains some valuable yardage before being tackled.  Petherton see the opportunity for a late try and set off into Ivel's half, the game is turning messy, but with 1 minute left the ball pops out and Luke is off down the pitch and over the line to score another try.

The whistle blows and Ivel win the 1st game 5-0

The 2nd Game sees Petherton getting us underway again.

Petherton have had a good pep talk and come out with renewed confidence, the start of this game is considerably harder than the first.

After being pinned in their own Half for a while, Harrie gets the ball and starts a run, he offload's to Jack B who get's Ivel into Petherton's half, a great pass to Cameron releases him with a predictable outcome, a try.   Ivel 1-0.

Petherton continue to push and threaten Ivel with a line out close to Ivel's try line.  Petherton's line out works well and they look like scoring when JK pushes over in the ruck, Harrie gets the ball out and Jack B runs three quarters of the pitch for another try.   Ivel 2-0

Ivel continue to apply more pressure but become too confident and give away a scrum.  Petherton win the scrum and once again enter into the Ivel half; can they make it count this time?  It looks promising until Ivel bring them down, the ball is loose until Archie picks it up and runs wide, just before getting tackled he passes the ball to Luke, Luke sends the ball wide to Liam who makes up some ground before being tackled, Ryan gets the ball out to Big Ryan who uses his power to drive towards the line, almost making it, he off loads to Jack B who gets pushed out, Petherton's line out.

Petherton try to make some ground but Luke makes a good tackle to keep Ivel in the final qtr, Samuel picks up the ball but gets tackled just as the Ref blows the whistle for half time.

2nd half is underway, Ivel have a spring in their step but give away a penalty, Samuel gets the ball and off loads to Cameron, Cameron runs towards the line but Petherton's defence bring him down, the ruck does their job and releases Cameron.  Another crunching tackle sees Cameron on the floor, the game is now being fought by a series of, scrums, rucks and mauls, forwards of both teams are now red faced and looking worse for wear, thankfully the backs put some passing together releasing Jack B who makes no mistake and gets another try.   Ivel 3-0

After the restart James gets hold of the ball and makes a run, he passes to Liam whose attempt to get to the line sees him forced out and Petherton awarded a line out.  Their line out fails and we see Jack B secure another try for Ivel.   Ivel 4-0

Petherton start again and it's back to a game for the forwards, a ball out to the wing from Archie sees Samuel head to the try line, but Petherton rescue the ball, but a poor pass gives an Ivel line out.

From the line out Ivel make it theirs and Luke is inches from getting another try, the spectators cannot believe how close he was. Petherton line out, but Ivel get a scrum, Big Ryan flexes his muscles and drives the Petherton pack back, James grabs the ball, gets a try and the final whistle blows.   Ivel 5-0

Ivel wins both games 5-0.

A big thank you and well done goes to all players, but especially the Ivel players who played for Petherton with the same commitment as they would do for Ivel.

A big thank you from the Coaches to all of the Parents that travelled the long distance to support the team in what can only be described as classic Rugby Weather.

Well it was a bitter cold and damp day that welcomed us to Wellington RFC and if that wasn't enough, we were welcomed by a mere 8 Coaches to train a squad of 20 versus our squad of 11.  If nothing else Wellington were showing their strength, but did they have Ivel's courage.............lets wait and see.

Ist Game 1st half
Ivel get us underway and it becomes immediately apparent that this will be a physical game, from an immediate ruck James breaks through and makes headway before being tackled, another ruck is underway, Ivel win the ball but are pushed out for a Wellington lineout.  Wellington fluff the catch and JK picks it up, he powers towards the line before off-loading to Broomy who uses his size and stature to get over the line and score.  First blood is drawn and the faces of the Wellington supporters drop.   1-0 Ivel

Wellington get us underway and push towards our line, one thing is for sure on this report that the words ruck and tackle will be used far more than try.  The forwards from both teams are drawn into a battle in the midfield, possession is swapped between Ivel and Wellington until Archie breaks and runs towards the Wellington half, Wellington put in a fair but hard tackle and for the next few minutes Wellington make ground after numerous scrums and rucks.
Wellington are now in the Ivel final quarter and can smell the try, Ivel's defence is very strong and taking lots of pounding, Wellington are tiring and Ivel are awarded a scrum.

Ivel's impressive and powerful scrum have met their match today (a first for this season), but the roar of the crowd drive them forward, Harrie grabs the ball from the scrum and passes to Jack, Jack spotted a hole in the Wellington defence and made a run Chris Ashton would have been proud of as he ran 3/4 of the pitch before getting a try.  Ivel 2-0

Wellington get us underway and make a good move into Ivel's half, but once again our defence stands up well and we win a scrum, Wellington win the scrum but make no further ground before Billy makes a cracking tackle that pushes Wellington out.  Ivel get the line out and head towards the Wellington line, but Wellington find their form and a great tackle and passing play see them firmly into our half, this time the pressure is too much from Wellington and they get one back.  Ivel 2-1

The ref blows the whistle.   End of 1st half.

Wellington get us underway and the fight for the midfield starts immediately, the boys are tiring as Cameron high tackles and it's a Wellington penalty, they take it quick to try and catch us off guard but Daniel stops them in their tracks, brick wall style. Wellington collect the ball but knock it on, so Ivel scrum in our half.

Both packs are pushing but none will give in, Harrie scoops the ball out and releases Jack who breaks through the Wellington line and shocks the Wellington team with his pace.

The whistle blows for full-time and Ivel win 3-1

Wellington look towards their Coaches with a  'that wasn't in the text book we read before the game' look on their face,

2nd game 1st half.

As the teams walk out, Ivel field the same team while Wellington put on another new fresh team, looking all clean and rested.

Wellington get us underway and advance down the touch line at speed, Billy puts in another tremendous tackle and Archie takes the ball and passes to Samuel, Samuel runs across the pitch before being taken out. Ruck, tackle, ruck, tackle, ruck tackle continues until Ivel get a scrum, Wellington win it and make a run.  Their run is stopped, but JK gives away a penalty for being offside in a ruck (not the first time today either) Pen to Wellington,  Wellington make the most of it and  get a try.  Ivel 0-1

Ivel off and advance into the Wellington half, the ball is stolen and we see a big drive by Wellington fresh legs,  but a forward ball sees an Ivel scrum.  Ivel win the scrum and the two teams battle to win the ball, gameplay is too fast to notice who is or isn't holding the ball, Cameron is quiet on the wing today, but isn't shy in tackling. James tries to power his way through but is brought down, Wellington win the ball and with some quick play are by the Ivel try line.  Ivel defence are holding Wellington on the line, the defence is amazing, all of Ivel are battling to keep Wellington from scoring, surely we can't keep this pressure up..........and we can and somehow we get the ball out and pass it to Jack, who once again with seconds left makes a run for the Wellington line and scores.  Ivel 1-1

2nd half
Lots of water on-board before we are off again with lots of pressure from Ivel ending in a Wellington scrum, Wellington win the scrum, but a tackle from Daniel and a ruck commences, once again JK gives Away a pen for offside as frustration sets in.

Wellington take the penalty and move into the Ivel half, a great tackle from Daniel puts them down, but they come straight back, Billy once again makes a tackle and the forwards from both teams go in to secure the ball, the ball clears only to find Big Ryan injured.  The restart sees Wellington power through the tiring Ivel team and get their 2nd try.
Ivel 1-2

The game gets underway again with both teams swapping scrums and lineouts in a match that is the toughest I have seen in the past 2 seasons.  Wellington get a lineout and pass the ball along their line quicker than most professional clubs, their winger is running down the line in what must be a certain try, then out of no-where Cameron flies through the air, complete with red trunks and cape he tackles the player over the touch for a Wellington lineout.  Ivel definitely pulling out all the stops in what is a monumental match.

Ivel lineout deep in our half, Wellington steal the ball but James tackles well, Wellington retain the ball and a tackle from Archie stops what should have been a try, Wellington are stuck in our half, with JK, Daniel, Broomy putting in hard scrums, Samuel makes a run but is tackled, the ball spills and Wellington sneak in a try just on the full-time whistle
Final score Ivel 1-3 Wellington.

After the game, the Wellington coaches have nothing to say but praise for the Ivel team, the best feedback being,  that we have given them the best game of their season.

A big effort from the team today, all the players put their heart and soul into the game and made Ivel proud. Well done lads.

This week seen a three way bout with TOR and Chard throwing down the gauntlet.

1st Game Ivel v TOR

The game started exactly how last week ended, hard tackling and rucking. Lineout for TOR is easily intercepted by Big Ryan who offloads to JK, who powers through TOR but gets nailed just before the try line, a powerful ruck continues but with inches to go Cameron is pushed out for a TOR lineout.

TOR throw the ball in, Harrie reads it well, but the slippery ball gets the better of his safe hands and the ref blows for a knock on.

TOR scrum and while TOR put up a good defence Ivel power forward, Ivel get the ball away quick towards the line but Cameron gets stopped midfield and TOR pick up the pressure.  They play the ball well and a big powerful (and dubious 9 year old) heads towards the Ivel half, spotting a big un, James and Cameron join forces to bring him down.

Another big ruck takes place, passion and desire is turning close to aggression as a couple of players get a bit close and personal, Ryan powers over leaving Ivel to clear the ball.
Some more heavy power play ensues before TOR are awarded a penalty, they make a play for our try line but Billy and Lukey take care of the advance, only to see the ball bounce free, Ryan collects and runs forward releasing the ball just before a tackle, Cameron collects but is brought to the floor, TOR win the ruck and play it wide to an unfortunate wide open space.   TOR score   Ivel 0-1

Ivel are straight back at them forcing their way forward, Billy gets away, and passes to Archie who releases Harrie into space, Harrie strides towards the line before a crunching tackle sends him over the touchline.

TOR lineout and once again Harrie intercepts, but the ball is ripped from his hands, Ivel get straight into the game forcing TOR out.

Ivel get a lineout, but this time it is TOR that do the intercepting, they play some good rugby releasing their scorer and get a try on the whistle.   Ivel 0-2

After the first half Ivel are losing against the run of play.

2nd half

Ivel again come out the blocks fighting hard, they gain possession and James takes it through the middle, he off loads to Billy who continues the run and gives a pin point pass to Ewan who blasts down the wing, just when it looked like he was home free a last minute tap tackle from TOR sees him spin through the air, landing nastily on his back.

Ivel get a scrum, but TOR win it and progress towards the Ivel try line, but James makes a tackle and stops them in their tracks.   Ivel regain possession and swing the ball wide with Archie, Samuel and Lukey getting it to Cameron who sprints like a train, but again TOR get a massive tackle in and the ball spills free.   TOR pick it up but are forced into touch by Ryan.

TOR lineout and they use it well passing along the line to their try scorer (who still looks older than 10), however he gets stopped and brought down by Big Ryan, Harrie scoops the ball up and with a long pass sets James off who carves his way through the field to score a well deserved try.   Ivel 2-1

TOR get us underway and push forward again, but the ball goes to touch, Ivel lineout.   Cameron makes a good run from the lineout, but again gets forced out, TOR lineout, and again Harrie intercepts and passes onto Billy who gets taken out with brute force, a powerful ruck by both sides sees both Big Ryan and JK left lying on the floor and while they get treatment and back to their feet a poor decision sees TOR take a try on the final whistle.

Ivel 1-3 TOR End game

Ivel see win slips from their fingers, but TOR is in our Pool for the Ivel Festival and revenge is sweet!!

2nd Game   Ivel v Chard

After a tough battle and a loss the team are in no mood to take prisoners for this game, there is a definite look of that won't happen again across the face of Coaches and Players alike.

As with the first game Ivel are off from the start with a fantastic defence splitting run to take an amazing 1st minute try, he also tries to take out the posts for good effect.   Ivel 1-0

Chard get us underway after the try but Ivel are straight back at them piling on the pressure, Chard buckle and give the ball away, Lukey makes a run before offloading to James and then onto Billy, more fantastic play by Ivel but the slippery ball gets the better of them as it goes out to the wing.  Ivel lineout.

Knock on by Ivel giving Chard a scrum, Chard get the better of Ivel in that scrum and string together some fantastic play, But Ryan is having none of it as he rips the ball from the opposing Chard player and jinks his way through the field and into the Chard half, with no support he eventually is taken out and it’s a Chard lineout.

Chard throw long, and Harrie  learning lots from the first game, again intercepts the long throw, darting across the line for a well deserved try.   Ivel 2-0

Its an Ivel scrum from the restart that is won convincingly, Samuel takes the ball down field before Chard win it back and pile on the pressure, the centre of the field turns into a battle zone as body after body pound against each other in the ruck, then out of nowhere Cameron appears, Usain Bolt like as he flies down field leaving everyone behind, but as he goes down to score the try the ball dislodges and drops, try disallowed.....Boo's can be heard from the crowd in dismay.

A relived Chard start to feel lady luck might be with them and plough through the field, a great tackle by JK stops Chard advancing past the halfway line.  A brave Billy gets stuck in to win the ball back, Cameron, Samuel and Ryan push back towards the Chard try line before a knock on gives Chard a scrum.

Ivel win the scrum but Chard are quick to close Ivel down in a Maul, with a look of fury on his face Big Ryan ploughs into the maul, ripping the ball from the opposing team and drives over everyone to score a try.

With that the ref blows for half-time.  Ivel 3-0 Chard

Straight from the off Ivel storm forward applying more and more pressure, but unfortunately drop the ball, the ball is becoming ever slippy as Chard then drop the ball, Cameron collects and heads to the try line, but again the slippery weather getting the better of the players as he slips and drops the ball, another disallowed try, how unlucky.

Chard now trying to take control of the game from their lineout and once again everyone is throwing themselves at the ball to stop Chard progressing, Archie tries to regain some ground but is brought down, Ivel ruck over and Ryan gets the ball out to the wing for Samuel to try and progress forward, but he is stopped by the brick wall of Chard, as they are in no mood to let Ivel score again.

In the maul that takes place Ivel are unlucky to knock the ball forward giving Chard a scrum.   Ivel win the scrum and set Samuel and Ewan free, once again Ivel are stopped and it is now Chard's turn to pile the pressure on.  Ivel's defence hold up well to the constant pounding from Chard as they start to encroach on the Ivel half.

Lots of shouting from the crowd, trying to push their team forward.   Ivel win the ball and progress into the Chard half, phase after phase continues before Chard intercept and push forward again, Chard are coming back at Ivel and playing well, they are unlucky as they drop the ball but give Ivel a lineout.

Ivel lineout sees a massive run by big Ryan; he thinks he's a winger today as he runs down the wing, a mass of Chard players pile into him to stop him in his tracks, with one massive heave they take him out of play for a Chard lineout.

Ref shouts last play before Chard's lineout is played, once again Harrie intercepts and Ivel pass along Archie, Samuel, and James Ewan and onto Cameron who goes over the line not dropping the ball for a last minute try.

The game ends with a well deserved Ivel win.   Ivel 4-0 Chard

Next week we meet for a bit of training but some fun as we enter the Christmas Holiday period.
