Ivel made the long trip to play Frome on a bright and sunny Sunday looking to continue their good form against Wells in last week’s game.
Ivel started the game well and applied some early pressure on the Frome pack with some trade mark powerful runs by Brandon Colman, Dan Long and Brendan Hawkins. This lead to a scrum on the Frome line and after some great scrummaging by the Ivel pack No 8 Elliot Berryman drove over for Ivel’s first score.
This was the pattern for the rest of the half with the Ivel forwards producing quick ball for backs to spin the ball wide. Further tries from Dan Long who drove over close to line, Harry McHugh who danced his way through the Frome team and Brendon Hawkins who powered over for Ivel’s final score of the half.
The second half started the way the first had finish with the Ivel team dominating possession and putting together some great inter passing between forwards and backs. The Ivel pack produced some very quick ball from the break down which gave the time and space for Tom Parnell to sprint over in the corner.
The Ivel backs expertly marshalled by fly half Carl Morgan raced up to tackle the Frome backs and a Frome pass was intercepted by Harry McHugh who went over under the post.
Ivel continued to play so great running rugby and after several passages of play Brandan Coleman popped up to drive over for his first try for Ivel.
The final score came after a powerful drive by the Ivel pack on the Frome put in and the ball shot out and Zac Withers was first to the ball and dived on to score.
It was great game of rugby played by both teams and the score does not reflect the effort and determination of the Frome team.
