SCORE: Ivel 15 – Sherborne 38
CAPTAIN FOR THE DAY: 1st Half - Connor Bell, 2nd Half - Dan Kennett
UNCONVERTED TRYS SCORED BY: 1st Half - Jake Morgan 2nd Half - Arran Williams and Jake Morgan
MAN OF THE MATCH: Will Lockie for his excellent play at fly half, a position he is not used to playing.
REPORT: With numbers down today through injury and a couple of players on a Duke of Edinburgh walk, it was always going to be a tough game against Sherborne who showed their supremacy in the first five minutes scoring a converted Try from an Ivel missed tackle.
Sherborne’s next two converted Trys were scored again from missed tackles. However, Jake Morgan did well to score Ivel’s first unconverted Try. The teams went in at half time with a score of Ivel 5 - Sherborne 21.
Worthy of note, was a fantastic piece of determination from Dan Kennett who made an excellent run from the half way line and kept on going with, at least, 6 Sherborne players hanging off his shirt!
Sherborne scored their 4th unconverted Try from an Ivel line out where a Sherborne player took advantage of the mistake and ran it over the line. However, Ivel counter attacked giving Arran Williams a chance to power the ball over the line for Ivel’s second Try.
Jake Morgan made a fantastic run the whole length of the pitch to score Ivel’s 3rd unconverted Try. Ivel players need to remember to get the ball under the posts to make it easier for the kickers! Sherborne scored their final two Trys from Ivel mistakes and the lack of players tackling.
IN SUMMARY Ivel kept discipline but it was all about execution today of getting in Sherborne’s 22. Ivel players were going in in 1’s and 2’s. If we hadn’t made all the little mistakes we could have come out with a very good result.
Dan Trapnell put in an excellent performance at full back, a position never played before. Zubair Asif put in a good performance. Harry Palmer put in another good performance. Arran Williams worked well and the scrum were brilliant again this week.
Well played the whole team. Although it was a loss you played well against a team you lost 80-0 to last year so a vast improvement by everyone well done! |
