MAN OF THE MATCH:     No man of the match this week as Ivel were playing against 14 men.

REPORT:  After a chaotic start and a lack of preparation by Wells the game eventually kicked off on time.  However, due to uncontested scrums (Wells didn’t have a front row) we couldn’t use our secret weapon - our great scrum!

Ivel had some bad decisions against them in the first 10 mins allowing 13 Wells players to take advantage and score their first try. Zubair Asif made a brilliant run but was tackled just before the line.  However, Ivel kept up the offensive attack with Harry Young picking up the ball making an excellent run to place the ball under the posts - well done Harry!!  Dan Finn kicked the conversion.

Dan Kennett scored the next unconverted try in close succession.  The scores were Wells 14 ~ Ivel 17 going into half time.

Coming out in the second half with renewed vigour, Jamie Spurway kicked an intelligent ball forward, which Jake Oliver caught perfectly and ran over the try line placing the ball under the posts.  The next try came from a quick tap and go, which Arran Williams caught and ran in for a try - Dan Finn converted.

Dan Kennett scored an excellent try from a super pass from James Cohen, which Jake Oliver converted.  However, in the next play a costly mistake by Ivel caused Wells to catch the ball, find a hole in our defence and run in for a try.  Jake Morgan made a fantastic run to try and tackle the Wells player but the pitch just wasn’t long enough.

After a good Ivel build up over several phases Dan Luck managed to squeeze the ball over the line, which Dan Kennett converted. The final try came from Zubair Asif who had an excellent all round performance today.

IN SUMMARY Arran Williams thought the team played okay today but felt there was still a need to improve on tackling and accurate passing.  It was a difficult game today as we have a strong scrum but due to Wells not having a front line meant there were uncontested scrums, so we couldn’t use our scrum to the full.  We played simple rugby instead of passing back and played the 2nd phase but didn’t execute the play. A good win but still some work to do.
