On a wet and blustery day Ivel came up against a Wells team who were up for a game.
The first 15 minutes saw some hard tackles and unforced errors from both sides. After another unforced error, Ivel broke away to score the first try in the corner. This was followed by a period of play in the middle of the field with neither side gaining an advantage.
Wells finally broke through to score after a well timed interception of a bad pass by the Ivel backs. The half ended with Wells leading by a conversion.
At the start of the second half Ivel quickly established themselves as the stronger team. The Wells defence put up a strong fight but unfortunately they could not keep out Ivel who crossed the line 4 times.
A good well tempered game on a day of mixed conditions.
The final score was Ivel 27 v Wells 7.
The Ivel try scores where: Dan Ogden 1, Jordan Parker 1, Nick Murray 1, Alex Voss 1 and Ben Mason 1
Conversions: James Robins 1
Man of the Match: Jordan Parker |

This was Ivel’s first away game of the season and a great turnout from the squad.
The game started off fast and hard with both sides trying to impose themselves. After a period of sustained pressure from the Ivel forwards James Harris forced his way over for a try which was converted.
After the restart Wimborne came back hard and pushed Ivel back into their own half but were unable to make it count. Ivel forced their way back up field and the forwards again helped James Harris across the line for his second try. This was converted by James Robins.
Wimborne again started hard pushing Ivel back and ending with a break through the Ivel defence scoring a good try which was converted.
Ivel came out fighting and just before half time Nick Murray broke away to score Ivel’s third try which was again converted by James.
The second half was a very scrappy affair with both sides coming close to scoring but for handling errors. Ivel eventually managed a break through allowing James Robins to score a try which he failed to convert. This was the only score off a hard fought second half.
The final score was Wimborne 7 vs Ivel 26.
The Ivel try scores where: James Harris 2, Nick Murray 1, and James Robins 1
Conversions: James Robins 3 Man of the Match: James Harris and a well done to all players.

This was a rare indifferent display from Ivel up against a strong Hornets team who showed they are a very well-schooled team. Ivel had a depleted squad due to injuries and found it hard to raise their game to match their opponents.
Hornets ran in tries, through at times a static Ivel defence and by half time were leading 41 – 0. Ivel came out stronger in the second half but found the Hornets defence hard to beat. Only some strong last ditch defending kept the score down.
The final score was Hornet’s 63 vs 0 Ivel |

Ivel’s performance today was a slight improvement on last weeks display as they faced a Bridgwater team playing only their second game of the season.
Bridgwater started the stronger of the two sides and Ivel struggled to hold them back. After a period of pressure Ivel gave away a penalty in front of the posts which was kicked for the 3 points by Bridgwater.
Ivel responded with a series of plays which ended with Kyle Pennell scoring a good try in the corner which was not converted. After another period of close play Ivel broke through to score a second try which again was not converted.
After this Ivel seemed to doze off which allowed Bridgwater to pull back a try. This was followed a few minutes later by another Bridgwater attack culminating in a second try.
In the last minutes of the half Ivel failed to score from a penalty.
The second half started with both sides unable to dominate the other. With play going from end to end neither team could breach the others defence.
After a concerted effort by Bridgwater they finally broke through the Ivel defence to score their third try. This seemed to wake up the Ivel players and after a period of pressure they scored a try which was then converted.
The final few minutes of the game saw Ivel push to score but Bridgwater’s defence held firm.
Final Score Ivel U16 17 vs 18 Bridgwater U16.
Ivel tries scored by Kyle Pennell x 1, Joel Chubb x 1 and Nick Murray x 1.
James Robins with 1 conversion. |

Prior to the game both teams lined out on the pitch to observe the 2 minute silence for Remembrance Day.
Ivel came up against a strong fast Bath team and the loss of several players to injury did not help their cause.
Ivel started strong but quickly lost momentum and allowed Bath to dominate the line-outs and rucks. Mistakes started to be made by Ivel and these were used by Bath to run in 4 tries in the first half two of which where converted.
Bath started the second half how they finished the first, scoring an easy try under the post which was converted. Ivel then appeared to wake up and started to up their game. Bath’s defence was strong and held out until near the end of the match.
Ivel got their second wind and pushed hard and ran in two tries of which one was converted. Unfortunately this was too late in the game.
Final score: Ivel U16 12 vs 31 Bath Youth |

This was a testing game for Ivel after a few weeks without a match and the score line does not give the team the justice they deserve. This was a hard and fast game and Ivel showed they where no push over. Unfortunately North Dorset got the bounce of the ball and some baffling refereeing decisions and at the end of the first half led 15-0.
The second half started with Ivel pushing hard and causing North Dorset some problems. A breakaway by North Dorset saw them increase their lead to 22-0. The Ivel team showed their determination and team spirit and again pushed North Dorset hard. This pressure was rewarded by a good try and conversion but unfortunately the 16 men of North Dorset won the game.
Final score: North Dorset U16 22 vs 7 Ivel U16
A good display of determination and team spirit from an injury depleted team. |

This was a much improved display from the Under 16’s who showed determination and controlled aggression from the start.
The Ivel pack dominated the scrums and gave Frome problems across the pitch with their rucking. This was a fast flowing end to end game but Ivel kept out the Frome attack and ran in 3 tries in the first half.
Frome came back at the start of the second half and after a few minutes forced an error from the Ivel backs and crossed for a try. This spurred on the Ivel team and they upped their game scoring 3 more tries. This could have been more but for Frome’s last line defence.
The Final score was Frome U16’s 5 vs Ivel U16’s 38
Ivel’s tries scored by Adam Guest x1, Joel Chubb x 1, James Robins x 1, Dan Ogdan x 1 and Connor McAlpine x2. Connor McAlpine with 4 conversions. |

This was an outstanding display by Ivel against a strong Castle Cary team who where buoyed up after their recent win over North Dorset.(Not an easy feat at North Dorset)
Both teams started strongly and for the first 10 minutes of play neither team could get into the oppositions 22. Ivel slowly began to dominate keeping Castle Cary pegged back in their own half. After 2 periods of excellent play Ivel crossed the line both times in the corner.
The second half saw Castle Cary start the brighter but the Ivel defence held firm and slowly eased the pressure. Ivel again began to dominate and pass the ball about with confidence causing Castle Cary lots of problems. Ivel scored another 3 unanswered tries one of which saw the ball passed from one side of the pitch to the other and back again before being scored in the corner.
The Final score was Castle Cary U16’s 0 vs Ivel U16’s 29
Ivel’s tries scored by Nick Murray x1, Ross Burford x1, Kyran Rooke x1, Brandon Brown x2. James Robins with 2 conversions.

There was only one winner in this game, the mud. After a brief discussion between coaches, referee and players it was decided to go ahead with the game.
Both teams bravely fought the elements (wind, rain and mud) and provided a good game for the supporters who braved the conditions. The mud and cold hands from the bitterly cold rain made handling difficult but both teams played a fast running game.
Ivel scored their try near the end of the first half. Half time was spent in the dressing rooms warming up.
The second half was dominated by Wells who scored a try and conversion to level the scores.
The half was cut short when it was deemed the mud was getting to deep and for the safety of the players the game was abandoned.
The Final score was Wells U16’s 7 vs Ivel U16’s 7
Ivel’s try scored by Steve Willets and converted by Connor McAlpine |

The 15 players that turned up today did their mothers proud with another fine performance.
Ivel dominated from the start with some aggressive rucking and quick passing. The Ivel scrum showed no mercy winning most of the LM put ins. Some good defending by the LM team kept Ivel from scoring until an excellent solo run was rewarded with a try in the corner. This was followed by two more well worked tries again in the corner before half time.
Ivel started badly in the second half and after a period of pressure from LM conceded a penalty try which was converted. After this LM had a player sent to the Sin Bin and this spurred on the Ivel team and they upped their game again dominating the scrums.
Ivel scored 2 tries whilst LM were down a player, both of which were converted. Ivel’s scoring was capped by another excellent solo try before the end.
The Final score was Lytchett Minster U16’s 7 vs Ivel U16’s 36
Ivel’s tries scored by Connor McAlpine x 3, Nick Murray x 1, Ross Burford x 1 and Ashley Newman x 1. Conversions by Connor McAlpine x 1, Kyle Pennal x 1 and Dan Jarvis x 1. |

On an unusually warm morning Ivel started the game very slowly. (Must be the loss of an hour in bed). Weymouth started the stronger and raced into the lead with 2 converted tries.
Ivel’s scrum was its usual powerful force, but was at times too eager to push giving away too many free kicks. After Weymouth scored their third try Ivel woke up and started to move the ball about scoring 2 tries.
Ivel started the second half with another well taken converted try but Weymouth were allowed straight back into the game.
Weymouth scored 2 more tries before Ivel rallied scoring 2 late tries of their own.
This was a hard fast game and the unusually warm weather seemed to take its toll on the players.
The Final score was Weymouth U16’s 38 vs Ivel U16’s 29
Ivel’s tries scored by Joel Chubb x 2, Nick Murray x 2, and Ross Burford x 1. Conversions by Kyle Pennal x 2 |

Ivel were up against a Castle Cary team out for revenge after the game earlier this season.
The first few tackles were bone crunching affairs but Ivel withstood them well. An excellent solo run was rewarded with a try in the third minute.
Ivel’s pack was up against a larger and heavier Cary pack and it showed in the scrums but Ivel never gave up. The game flowed back and forth with Cary using their larger players time and time again to break through the Ivel line.
Ivel weathered this well and on the break managed to score three more tries before Cary broke through and scored in the last minute of the half.
The second half was as hard fought as the first with the game flowing back and forth. Again and again Cary’s big players hit the Ivel line but the defence today was excellent.
Ivel twice more broke through the Cary defence to score good tries.
The Final score was Ivel U16’s 34 vs Castle Cary U16’s 7
Ivel’s tries scored by James Robins x 2, Joel Chubb x 1, Jordan Parker x 1, Connor McAlpine x 1 and James Harris x 1.
Conversions by James Robins x 2 |
