Three way contest today with Chard and Tor coming among for some great rugby,   unfortunately Tor had only 5 and so it was agreed that each of the other teams would lend Tor a player - thank you to Murray for this very sporting gesture.

First game Ivel v Chard - a frenetic encounter with some great tagging and defensive pressure, both sides struggled to
find space to move but the game was played out to a 5-3 victory for Chard.  Ivel scorers Simeon Owen and Rory.

Chard then played Tor to come away with an unbeaten record.

The final game Ivel versus Tor and as Chard had left, Freddy volunteered to play for the understrength Tor.

Ivel enjoyed the best of this game and triumphed 5-3 with Murray scoring at least 1 for Tor. Ivel scorers Rory 2 owen ethan and Billy.

Enjoyable games for me with a starting 'triangle' of passer and left and right helping in Ivels organisation, we now need to start thinking a bit more about moving the ball prior to the tackle to create space. in the early game against Chard the tagged player passed to a team mate who had no space to move forward before being tackled. something to work on hopefully in time for the festival. Well played everyone!

Winter coughs seemed to have taken a heavy toll as today both Bridgwater and Ivel could only muster 6 players each, it was agreed to play on the full pitch which would keep everyone running and hopefully warm!

ivel were excellent in defence from the start and harried and bustled, nipping around the tags of the bridgwater players.
This defensive play and the extra space seemed to suit the ivel team with some great individual tries. There was good support play too especially from Rory who always seemed to be the first to the tagged player.
The final score was 9 -2 to ivel. Scorers Rory 3 Billy, Murray and Cameron with 2 apiece.

Everyone seemed to enjoy the game and despite the cold were keen for more. Despite my efforts to keep the Ivel boys on their toes the old enemy of complacency set in and what should have been another victory disappeared. Ivel were not so keen to the tackle and started giving away silly penalties which lead to space and gaps for Bridgwater to exploit which they did. The second game ended 5-3 to Bridgwater with Harrison, Rory and Simeon scoring.

Overall plus points
Not straying into touch
Excellent support
Good running forward

Overall negatives
Lack of concentration in the second game leading to running backwards and needless penalties.
Need to use more of the pitch by passing the ball before we are tagged.

Training this sunday - time to have some fun and work on passing.

Man of the Match - for his excellent running, brilliant support and commitment to the tackle -Rory Parnell.

Many thanks to Cris for his assistance in coaching and running with the boys.
