Just like to thank all the parents for getting to Bridgewater a little earlier than necessary, so that we could have a bit of a pre-game training session. The training session went well and the lads were in high spirits and eager to get the game started.
With Oscar as captain, we won the toss and went straight on to the attack, with some powerful running from Jack, who headed straight for the heart of the Bridgewater defence, with some good tackles by Bridgewater Ivel’s attacks were quick & short, only to give the ball away by some sloppy handling or not playing the ball in a maul. With Bridgewater now on the attack, coming from a scrum they hit the Ivel’s defence hard, with some weaving runs and some good support play they nudged ever closer to Ivel’s line, with turn over after turn over the game went from one end to the other with some long mazy runs from Alistair & neo, and good support play from Thomas, David & Henry, unfortunately Bridgewater drew first blood and scored the opening try. Heads still up we went straight back on the attack, only again for some bad handling and slow support play, they once again gained possession and due to some missed tackles were able to score for a second time.
With Ivel only 2 scores down the lads again dug deep, with great running again from Alistair, Jack & Matt with good support play from Neo Ivel managed to score with a long run down the line from Jack shrugging players off as he went. Bridgwater straight back but with some hard tackling from Jay, Josh & George gave Ivel a turn over and with some good passing let Neo run in to level the score. As the clocked ticked down both teams went for the win, but due to some sideways running and being caught with the ball, Bridgewater ripped the ball and scored from 5 metres out.
The second game was just as intense as the first; both teams playing some hard and fast rugby, with players falling injured everywhere, the pitch looked more like a scene from the Battle of the Somme. Unfortunately Bridgewater again just edged the victory but 2 great games of rugby watched by a massive crowd!!!!!!!!!(30+)
Overall lads 2 very good games, lets remember guys that the ball will always move quicker than you can run, let the ball do the work and let the space appear!
Man of the Match this week is Henry for his effort and dedication he put in throughout the games. Keep it up!!!!!!!!!!
Areas to work on:
- Must get the tackles in.
- Let the ball do the work.
- Run straight & look for SUPPORT, SUPPORT, SUPPORT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- Most important of all PASS, PASS, PASS!!!!! You cannot run the whole length of the pitch every time.
- Don’t get sucked in, keep the defensive line.
Try Scorers: Jack 1, Neo 1 |
