Just like to start by saying what a fantastic turn out we had, thank you to all the parents and the players for making themselves available for the tournament. With a good squad we were ready to have a good tournament, with some very good teams in our group, confidence was high.

The first game was against a mixed Frome/Warminster side, straight from the off Ivel attacked hard with some great weaving runs from Neo, putting the opposition on the back foot, with some good supporting play and quick ruck ball Ivel managed to open the scoring with Neo going in at the corner. Frome/Warminster came straight back on the attack from the kick off and after some missed tackles and good runs they equalled the scores up. With the bit between the teeth Ivel again poured on the pressure with great runs from Jack, Matt & Jay. Good support from Molly and Rocco eventually end up with Jack going over for the try, this gave Ivel even more confidence, with good ripping and running Ivel again scored twice more through Jay & Neo. A good opening game.

Due to the amalgamation of Frome/Warminster this meant that Ivel Hard 2 more games one after another, unfortunately this didn’t play very well for Ivel. Against Sherborne they played very well, even if Sherborne didn’t understand the high tackle rule!!, again with some great weaving runs by Neo and Rocco, some great defensive work from David, Molly & Thomas just couldn’t keep Sherborne out. Jay did manage to sneak over in the corner for a consolation try, but unfortunately tiredness & cold were starting to take a hold. Our final game was against Dorchester, they too were a very strong side but we held our own, and only for a couple of crazy weaving runs they managed to break through and score.

Overall a valiant effort by all, unfortunately the results didn’t go in our favour, but still got a lot of games left in the season.

Player of the Match went to Molly this week; she got stuck in to the rucks & mauls, good support play and done some nice tackles. Well done.

I’d just like to give a special thanks to Michelle Lark for all the hard work she put in running up to the tournament and for being our team manager on the day. Thank you very much Michelle it wouldn’t have run as smoothly without you.
